I took a morning walk through the neighborhood and through Larson Park. Fall is arriving and you can see it and smell it and feel it. It is a welcome arrival and brings with it the sound of recess in the Flowery school playground, red and yellow leaves, squirrels racing from tree to tree and a sense of excitement for what is to come.
I love Larson Park and it is the place I go to when I need to take a deep breath and reset my very busy brain. It is where my children have played their whole life, where I used to walk my dog on her little senior walk around the soccer field before she crossed the rainbow bridge this year. It is the place where I see my neighbors and the place where our community has gathered for years.
Yes, there are cracks in the pavement, tattered goal posts and faded tennis courts. However, there is also laughter, joy, community and nature. All the things that make where we live really special. Someday I hope Larson receives much needed and deserved improvements but until that time comes I still will take my walks there, enjoy it’s imperfections and allow this place to remind me of how special this community is.
We are what makes community, we are the movement that creates the changes we want in Area 2/The Springs and our schools. With all our imperfections, we are what creates joy, laughter, beauty and the energy to get things done. It exists in us. We make it happen.
He dado un paseo matutino por el barrio y por el parque Larson. El otoño está llegando y se puede ver, oler y sentir. Es una llegada bienvenida y trae consigo el sonido del recreo en el patio de la escuela de Flowery, hojas rojas y amarillas, ardillas corriendo de árbol en árbol y una sensación de emoción por lo que está por venir.
Me encanta el parque Larson y es el lugar al que acudo cuando necesito respirar hondo y restablecer mi ajetreado cerebro. Es el lugar donde mis hijos han jugado toda su vida, donde solía pasear a mi perra en su pequeño paseo de la tercera edad alrededor del campo de fútbol antes de que cruzara el puente del arco iris este año. Es el lugar donde veo a mis vecinos y el lugar donde nuestra comunidad se ha reunido durante años.
Sí, hay grietas en el pavimento, postes de portería andrajosos y pistas de tenis descoloridas. Pero también hay risas, alegría, comunidad y naturaleza. Todas las cosas que hacen que el lugar donde vivimos sea realmente especial. Algún día espero que Larson reciba las tan necesarias y merecidas mejoras, pero hasta que llegue ese momento seguiré dando mis paseos por allí, disfrutando de sus imperfecciones y permitiendo que este lugar me recuerde lo especial que es esta comunidad.
Nosotros somos lo que hace la comunidad, somos el movimiento que crea los cambios que queremos en el Área 2/The Springs y en nuestras escuelas. Con todas nuestras imperfecciones, somos lo que crea la alegría, la risa, la belleza y la energía para hacer las cosas. Existe en nosotros. Nosotros lo hacemos posible.
